AEGIS collection and release preparation
This earlier collection assessment covers 37 chapters / 36 release groups. The current Timeline Bible has 38 chapters after adding Novice Guild War; that chapter has not been assessed against the collection. No collection inspection or emulator work was rerun during the latest notice-recovery pass.
Review date: 2026-10-28. Scope: the local downloads/AEGIS keldon download against the current Thai RO Timeline Bible, from the international Alpha/Beta preludes through the state before November 9, 2010 Thai Renewal.
This collection can save substantial data and content reconstruction work. We can prepare the evidence dossiers and specifications for all 38 chapters, organized into 37 releases. It does not supply 37 clean, authenticated, ready-to-run Thai builds. The practical route remains the bible's one pinned emulator with complete stage snapshots, using these files as separately identified candidate sources.
Deep-inspection update: the downloaded-material appendix now documents decoded Alpha maps, offline MDF/LDF records, complete workbook extraction, native recovery analysis and packaging defects. Internet research also recovered a fuller retained Alpha client candidate; newer downloadable AEGIS bundles did not establish a complete historical pre-Renewal chain. The strongest next opportunity is normalizing these candidate tables, regional NPCs, warps and spawns. The hardest remaining work is early mechanics, stateful systems, client compatibility, character migration and exact Thai historical qualification. Release status and historical dates remain unchanged.
The wider search additionally recovered an archived rAegis patch/data variant, reconstructed Xenophase component/hook source and RagnarokHQ import/data material. Native section comparisons show the rAegis zone is a small patch of the existing ASB2 engine family. Xenophase lacks its required target engine binaries and includes Renewal-related content in its 2009-named tree. These are useful comparison and reconstruction inputs; no fuller authenticated pre-Renewal installation or original Alpha/Beta server was verified. See the wider-search findings.
What the download adds
The reproducible inventory covers 12,040 regular files, 2,408,941,473 bytes and 5,772 distinct file hashes, excluding macOS metadata. It inventories 68 ZIPs and 11 NPC import lists. These counts include nested archives and duplicated copies; they are not counts of independent historical records.
The outer downloaded ZIP is 2,413,347,304 bytes, SHA256 e45aa68e31cfa9a6394f62685034fa5a76c89bbf82f87fc0e4f0b7922acb7a79. Its 12,040 file entries match the extracted collection by Unicode-normalized path, size and CRC32. Differences between inner ZIPs and their neighboring folders were therefore already present in the collection. Keep both as distinct inputs.
| Candidate | Practical value | Qualification needed |
|---|---|---|
ep6_official-gravity | English/Russian Excel tables; Amatsu/Gonryun changes; regional scripts | The name does not authenticate official Thai provenance. The named workbooks are 2006 references, with material regional differences. |
Aegis ep7 and ASB_2.0.1_+_2.0.2 | Earlier NPCs, jobs and comparison tables | Related ASB packages. EP7 explicitly includes custom monsters and rebalanced drops/EXP; 252 shared relative paths have identical hashes. |
ASB3.0_Final, AegisEp10, AEGIS4.0 | Rebirth through later regional content and skill references | Mixed revisions. EP10 combines 10.2/10.3 and later content. ASB4 combines 10.4 Zone and 10.3 Inter and documents broken mail/auction delivery. |
ASB 5.5 | Broad NPC/spawn/quest coverage through 13.2 and instance candidates | A 2013 package claiming 2010 Zone/Inter, 2011 account/character servers and Brasilis additions. Its configuration declares NATION=CHINA. |
GetItHot, Xmas_Present_2008 | Additional late-era NPC/quest/instance comparisons | Community packages and incomplete neighboring extracted copies; dates and Thai applicability are unproved. |
Release2013_Server and r6 | Selective 13.1/13.2 reference material | Includes Renewal, third jobs, level penalties, 13.3 and 2013 events. Whole-package import exceeds the bible. |
Old Maps, old_payon.rar, morocc_old.rar, morocc.zip | Candidate map revisions for early towns, Payon and Morroc | Establish map identity, geometry, resource dependencies and corresponding NPC/warp revisions. |
FullData_v3 | Palettes, client presentation and English localization | Not a server monster/EXP database or proof of complete Thai client support. |
Package documentation: EP7 (local reference file), lines 7–25; EP7 database notes (local reference file), lines 23–29; EP10 (local reference file), lines 4–87; ASB4 (local reference file), lines 29–39 and 83; ASB5.5 (local reference file), lines 13–39 and 43–59. These are claims made by their packagers, not independent release authentication.
Numerical tables are the best first conversion target
The hash-pinned English script_Eng_Ep_6_1_20060206.XLS has 30 sheets, including 1,042 monster/placeholder records, 722 eight-slot drop records, 38 MVP records, 71 healing-item records and ordinary/alternate EXP tables. The sample evidence retains exact workbook hashes, paths, sheet coordinates, headers and raw values.
| Source and cell range | Observation | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
English monparameter!A858:AD858 | Poring HP 50, EXP 2/1 | Useful concrete candidate for a small converter fixture. |
English monparameter!A799:AD799 | Mummy HP 5,176, EXP 488/314 | A higher-level comparison fixture. |
English monmakingitem!P543:Q543; Russian P434:Q434 | Poring card raw rate 1 versus 20 | Preserve separate candidate profiles. Neither value becomes a Thai probability without unit and regional evidence. |
English monmakingitem!P437:Q437; Russian P346:Q346 | Lunatic card raw rate 1 versus 15 | A single global multiplier cannot reconcile these two examples. |
English heal!A2:M2 | Red Potion healing 45–65, price 50, raw weight 70 | Preserve units and distinguish general item price from individual NPC shop price. |
Gonryun bothhand!A2:D3 | Muramasa ATK 170 → 155, explicitly headed before/after | Can become an expected-old-value candidate delta once Thai applicability is reviewed. |
Gonryun bow!A2:D3 | Bow of Rudra ATK 130 → 150 | Same reusable delta mechanism. |
Do not treat the second ATK field as an emulator's maximum ATK, convert raw weights or drop rates, or align EXP levels by row position without verifying loader semantics. The XLS reader reported an OLE structural warning for one workbook; it successfully read the sampled sheets, and the diagnostic is retained with the samples. This is not a claim of complete workbook validation.
Capacity tables such as maxHp*.scp and maxSp*.scp do not prove natural recovery. The NEWHPSP=1 flag in EP7 RO.inf (local reference file), line 21, and ASB5.5 RO.inf (local reference file), line 15, establishes no formula, timer or Thai transition date. Thai beta HP/SP recovery remains open.
An especially misleading candidate is ASB4 MonParameter.scp (local reference file): Poring HP 25, Mummy 420 and Baphomet 3,000 occur at lines 28, 55 and 60 despite its later package. They may be stale or unused records. Their old-looking numbers are not Alpha authentication.
Fix source completeness before conversion
ASB5.5's NPC import list (local reference file) references 553 active files. Seven are absent from its extracted folder: Ninja job change, Einbroch's ein_main_tre, 13.1's ep13_gogo, Veins Kafra, Lutie links, Prontera maze links and the bard quest. All seven are present and readable in the bundled ASB 5.5.zip. The ZIP also supplies an absent statPlusInfo.scp. This is recoverable preparation work, without guessing replacement content.
The audit read and hashed 21 .sc/.scp members absent from the compared extracted folders across ASB5.5, both Release2013 ZIPs and Xmas 2008. No files were extracted into the source collection. Release2013's InterServer_Fixed.exe also differs from its ZIP by CRC, and r6's std_v2.sc differs by size and CRC. The latter is 34,025 bytes locally versus 33,871 in the ZIP. Some non-ASCII member paths have legacy encoding mismatches; these are listed separately from the ASCII script gaps.
Build an importer around an explicit archive/member/hash identity. A later timestamp, more complete folder or successful parse is not a reason to silently prefer one conflicting version.
Client and map boundaries
| Input | Verified scope | Preparation implication |
|---|---|---|
alpha-maps.zip | alpha.grf and six MP3s; GRF header version 0x103 | Potential early visual reference. All 3,259 GRF entries now decode; 31 map triples recovered. Historical revision and complete client pairing remain unqualified. |
Old Maps.zip | Alberta/Izlude .gat, .gnd, .rsw and minimaps | Useful small candidate resource bundles. |
old_payon.rar | Payon and two interiors with map triples plus minimap | Candidate for a deliberate old/new Payon migration. |
morocc_old.rar | Archive index lists old Morroc resources | Its payload is now decoded with temporary official UnRAR tooling; historical map identity remains unqualified. |
morocc.zip | Morroc, interior and ruins map triples | Compare against the old-map candidate before assigning a stage. |
mapfile_complete.zip | 949 .gat, 949 .rsw, one name table; no .gnd | Not a complete client pack. The name table explicitly includes 14.3, beyond the bible's scope. |
Client for ASB5 Beta | Executable metadata dated 2010-06-23; readme lists binary edits | “Beta” refers to this package, not proof of a 2001/2002 RO client. |
Release2013_Client ZIPs | Readmes identify 2013-03-19aSakFree; referenced base GRFs are absent | Client/server compatibility and complete resources remain a separate gate. |
The runtime dependency burden also argues against switching old packages per episode: the included instructions span SQL Server 2000/2008, .NET helpers and changing character schemas. SQL .mdf files now have offline schema and primary-row candidate exports. Compatible SQL-engine recovery/comparison and unresolved type/log cases remain separate local work.
Coverage for every chapter
The table below is an engineering assessment of candidate preparation, after a common converter, engine and client are qualified. “Lower” means relatively contained content work, not an immediately playable or authenticated release. Package aliases and machine-readable rows are in the assessment. Morroc and Moscovia remain one Episode 12.1 release group.

A practical way to prepare all releases
- Freeze source identities and choose candidate profiles. Inventory and hashes now exist. Next recover the archive-only scripts into a separate, hashed working corpus; preserve regional variants, duplicate slots and conflict records. Select an initial English/multiregion comparison baseline explicitly, with Thai applicability unresolved where necessary.
- Normalize reusable data once. Begin with XLS monster, drop, healing and EXP tables; then parse maps, warps, spawn declarations, shops, item effects and job availability. Preserve raw values, units, source locations and converter version. General quest scripts need semantic translation and review; a filename or text substitution is not a complete converter.
- Generate 37 release dossiers from the existing 38 chapters. Each should contain its source choices, allowed maps/jobs/items/quests, forbidden later content, before/after mechanics, migration decisions, client profile, chapter checks, unresolved history and player-note draft. The current assessment maps every chapter; these executable manifests and generated server snapshots do not yet exist.
- Prove two small transitions before scaling. First qualify the bible's starter-world fixture: one character, Poring/Fabre and one stronger monster, recovery, exact EXP, drops and save/restore. Then use Amatsu as a contained regional addition to prove content generation, access/return routes and client assets. A reconstructed starter baseline can proceed only with its assumptions visibly labelled; it does not close Thai beta history.
- Generate complete snapshots and transition previews. Reuse the same pinned engine; resolve dependencies and removals, including alternative job changers, item grants, shop stock and warp routes. The ASB5.5 general job changer illustrates why disabling only the normal quest is insufficient. Test every milestone rather than assuming a late snapshot minus maps recreates the early game.
- Qualify and activate stages separately. Run migration once/repeat/interruption/restore checks and the affected client paths. Advance readiness only when the existing release checklist is satisfied. Local activation dates remain distinct from historical dates.
For the first implementation experiment, rAthena's structured pre-Renewal monster schema is a convenient export target. That is a tooling preference, not evidence that its defaults are historically correct. The bible's pinned rAthena/Hercules comparison still shows why engine behavior must be measured. Retain the emulator decision gate until the small scenario passes.
The easiest preparation deliverables are inventories, data extraction, source conflict reports, per-stage allowlists, dossier drafts and generated checklists. Regional additions can then reuse that machinery. Alpha/beta reconstruction, crafting/formula transitions, Rebirth, Homunculus, WoE, battlegrounds, instances and map/state migrations remain substantive implementation work. The final Thai maintenance state remains a research gap even if the 13.2 content runs correctly.
Reproducing this assessment
The deep inspection appendix supersedes the original bounded sample pass. Optional offline analysis tools and raw exports are preserved separately under archives/aegis-derived/; they are not part of the VitePress setup. The input, output and tool hashes are retained in the extraction ledgers.
The inventory hashes all regular files, inventories ZIP directories, compares selected inner archives, checks NPC references and reads selected missing text members. The original bounded pass did not decode GRF or MDF contents; the linked deep pass now does, with its remaining limits stated explicitly. No game server was started. Historical claims in the bible and all research_only release statuses are preserved.
The current deep validation record covers original-file integrity, decoded derivatives and the inspection boundaries. The chapter assessment now matches all 38 current chapters and 37 release groups. Historical/runtime authenticity remains a separate gate.
