Historical patch notes

  • Original July 17 guide lists Knight, Hunter, Assassin, Blacksmith, Priest and Wizard job locations; identification uses a consumable costing 40 zeny. Evidence: original operator document. english_beta_identify
  • Preserved attributed notice says Swordman recovery gains MaxHP scaling; the skill boosts healing-item recovery by 10% per skill level, while VIT adds 1% per point. Evidence: attributed notice unverified region. beehive_beta2
  • Same notice reports 5% death EXP loss and 3% dungeon item-loss chance, AGI-to-DEX cast-time scaling change, and revised monster stats/prices. Penalty denominator and Thai applicability unresolved. Evidence: attributed notice unverified region. beehive_beta2
  • FAQ section6 says planned initial Thai version was Beta2; beta would be free. Original mid-August schedule could change. It is prelaunch intent, not the actual September launch date or exact deployed formula. Evidence: verified announcement not runtime. english_beta_faq_20020722
  • Operator reports all areas restored, including Training Ground and new maps, as of07:20 Thai time. This English-service report is distinct from the unrecovered September18 Thai Training Ground notice. Evidence: verified status notice. english_beta_training_fixes_20020717
  • Announces rollback toJuly16 state because a clothing item (Thai name เสื้อขนมิ้งค์) was overpriced onJuly17. No exact price or item ID supplied; completion remains unverified. Evidence: verified schedule not completion. english_beta_rollback_20020718
  • The July 11 announcement makes the English Beta 2 client available and schedules English service for July 16, 2002 at 08:00 Thailand time. A separate July 17 notice reports Chaos and Loki operating normally as of 07:20. These establish a planned opening and a later operational observation, not proof of an on-time July 16 launch. Evidence: original schedule and later service report. english_beta2_download_schedule_20020711, english_beta2_service_status_20020717
  • A July 17 notice warns that missing client patches can cause character-stat, second-job and saving problems. It establishes a compatibility requirement without a numbered patch manifest or HP/SP formula. The July 11 N Protect notice concerns Korean deployment; English and Japanese servers were explicitly unchanged at that time. Evidence: original operator client and region qualification. english_beta2_patch_requirement_20020717, korean_nprotect_notice_20020711

Player guide

This stage follows English Beta 2 material published in Thai, including second-job information and reported balance changes.

What to explore in this stage

  • Use the dated operator guide to explore the six listed second-job paths.
  • Recheck healing items and casting behavior against the selected Beta 2 profile.

Before the local update

  • The reported death/item-loss rules need qualification before the local server can tell you exactly what is at risk.

These activities describe the intended stage. Exact local requirements and availability must be confirmed in the released build before this draft becomes a player announcement.

Developer guide

Implementation work

  • Define the six second-job paths from the original guide.
  • Separate natural recovery, passive HP recovery, healing-item scaling and casting-stat changes.
  • Recover the death-penalty basis and eligible item-loss pool rather than applying a guessed percentage globally.

Character and world migration

  • Record changes to skill behavior and item healing on existing characters; make any penalty-policy decision explicit.

Acceptance checks

  • All enabled second-job routes are reachable and later alternate jobs remain gated.
  • Healing-item scaling and passive recovery have independent checks.
  • Death penalties use the documented EXP basis and item scope once those are resolved.

Affected areas: jobs, recovery, combat, experience, items.

Use the mechanics history for candidate rules and developer reference for pinned comparison files. The release checklist defines the future evidence, migration and runtime gates.

Unresolved before qualification

  • Notice effective date.
  • Confirm thai cbt applicability.
  • Natural hp sp.
  • Death penalty basis.
  • Full monster delta.
