Historical patch notes

  • Thai CBT starts September 16 at 18:00 on Chaos, Loki and Iris. Original launch-day report says service has operated over five hours. Evidence: original operator documents. thai_launch_original, thai_launch_day
  • Announced end: October 15 at 24:00. CBT characters and IDs to be deleted; OBT data intended to continue into commercial service. Evidence: original operator policy. thai_launch_original
  • FAQ section6 says planned initial Thai version was Beta2; beta would be free. Original mid-August schedule could change. It is prelaunch intent, not the actual September launch date or exact deployed formula. Evidence: verified announcement not runtime. english_beta_faq_20020722
  • Hardware and network installed and under test; planned servers increased from2 to3: CHAOS, LOKI, IRIS. Software problems still being resolved withGravity. Launch schedule promised the following week. Official Thai website opened. No launch date announced here. Evidence: verified prelaunch notice. thai_progress_20020831
  • Thai Operation Team confirms client downloads and capacity problems from heavy demand, continued availability and alternative mirrors. Establishes distribution chronology, not build or formula. Evidence: verified distribution notice. thai_client_download_20020914
  • Undated original Thai Swordman/Mage guides captured in December 2003 print passive HP recovery of 5 × skill level and SP recovery of 3 × skill level per 10 seconds while sitting or standing idle. These are skill tables, not natural-regeneration formulas; complete runtime terms and beta applicability remain unverified. Evidence: original guide later capture not beta runtime proof. thai_swordman_guide_2003, thai_mage_guide_2003
  • The first announcement, indexed July 3 but undated in its body, reports the June 13, 2002 Gravity/Asiasoft agreement and proposes a mid-August Thai Beta 2 opening. An August 12 plan moves the tentative opening to early September, with installation August 19–25 and internal tests August 26–31. These were plans, superseded by the September 16 launch; they are not a separate Thai Alpha service. Evidence: original prelaunch plans not completed dates. thai_initial_announcement_july2002, thai_progress_20020812
  • A September 11 notice schedules client downloads from September 14 at noon and partner-ISP registration from September 16; an alternative boxed client/manual/ID package costs 149 baht. A September 20 notice confirms CBT had operated since September 16 at 18:00 and announces extra limited client-CD/ID distribution from September 21. Evidence: original distribution schedule and launch confirmation. thai_cbt_participation_20020911, thai_cbt_extra_ids_20020920
  • The participation notice says the client program can continue into OBT, while the August plan discusses IDs continuing into paid service. Neither statement establishes CBT character retention or overturns the separately announced CBT wipe. The first announcement explicitly disallows transferring foreign-server IDs to Thailand. Evidence: original operator distinct continuity scopes. thai_cbt_participation_20020911, thai_progress_20020812, thai_initial_announcement_july2002
  • Another undated Thai operator guide, captured in December 2003, says weight over 50% stops ongoing HP/SP increase, while items or skills can restore it; over 90% prevents attacks and skills. It supplies no natural recovery amount or interval. Exact equality boundaries, passive-skill exceptions and beta applicability remain unresolved. Evidence: undated operator guide not beta runtime proof. thai_interface_guide_2003
  • Other operator guides describe ambiguous HP after death, unspecified 1% Base/Job loss, 50 zeny for training enrollment and Base-only progress from Fabre in the second training area. These are undated guide descriptions, not confirmed beta rules: the revival routes are not separated, and training Fabre must not replace ordinary field Fabre rewards. Evidence: undated operator guide not beta runtime proof. thai_basic_guide_2003, thai_training_guide_2003, thai_training_course_guide_2003

Player guide

The Thai closed beta is the first Thai-service starting point. Its opening and reset policy are documented, while numerical combat and progression rules still need reconstruction.

What to explore in this stage

  • Create a starter character and follow the locally verified novice and job-change routes when they are available.
  • Build an initial hunting and supply routine using the qualified starter monster and shop lists.

Before the local update

  • The original CBT announced a wipe. A continuous local playthrough needs its own clearly stated policy before the next stage.

These activities describe the intended stage. Exact local requirements and availability must be confirmed in the released build before this draft becomes a player announcement.

Developer guide

Implementation work

  • Qualify a small Thai starter-world profile: character creation, starting inventory, novice route and first-job access.
  • Resolve natural/passive HP/SP, level requirements, monster rewards, drops and spawn records independently.
  • Prevent later maps, jobs, cards and skills from entering the starting profile.

Character and world migration

  • Choose an explicit historical-wipe or continuity policy; preserve a character checkpoint before any conversion.

Acceptance checks

  • A new character can progress through the supported starting route.
  • Recovery is checked standing, sitting, walking and around the weight boundary.
  • Known monster kills award the expected Base/Job EXP and use the selected drop slots.
  • No later content is reachable through NPCs, random items or map warps.

Affected areas: world, jobs, recovery, experience, monsters, items, client.

Use the mechanics history for candidate rules and developer reference for pinned comparison files. The release checklist defines the future evidence, migration and runtime gates.

Unresolved before qualification

  • Natural recovery.
  • Passive recovery.
  • Base exp.
  • Job exp.
  • Mob stats.
  • Drops.
  • Spawns.
  • Client.
  • Jobs.

Sources and official records

Original operator documents, republications, reporting and foreign comparisons are labelled separately. A source listed here is not proof that every rule in it applies to this stage.

Source details and limitations
  • Thai service launch schedule and reset-policy notice — thai operator original; operator announcement. thai_launch_original Document date: 2002-09-08. Archive capture: 2002-10-12. Access: archived or live html recovered and inspected. Scheduled dates; launch-day report separately confirms service. Archive capture is 2002-10-12. Saved HTML
  • Thai launch-day operating report — thai operator original; operator operating report. thai_launch_day Document date: 2002-09-16. Archive capture: 2004-04-05. Access: archived or live html recovered and inspected. Document survives in a 2004 capture. Does not provide numerical mechanics. Saved HTML
  • Original Thai service news and announcement index — thai operator original; news or update index. thai_early_index Archive capture: 2002-10-12. Access: index HTML recovered; only separately catalogued notice bodies are recovered. Actual capture is October 12, not requested September timestamp. Saved HTML
  • English Beta 2 FAQ; No.25, 22 July 2002 — english service operator original; notice. english_beta_faq_20020722 Document date: 2002-07-22. Archive capture: 2002-08-15. Access: original html recovered text inspected. Thai Beta2 is an announced build family, not an authenticated deployed ruleset. Mid-August is tentative and superseded by later launch evidence. Red Potion 50→60z is explicitly a hypothetical example. Saved HTML
  • Thai server progress announcement, 31 August 2002 — thai operator original; notice. thai_progress_20020831 Document date: 2002-08-31. Archive capture: 2002-10-12. Access: original html recovered text inspected. Prelaunch plans and testing. No production mechanics or exact launch date. Date2545 converted to2002. Saved HTML
  • Thai client download notice; No.46, 14 September 2002 — thai operator original; notice. thai_client_download_20020914 Document date: 2002-09-14. Archive capture: 2004-01-14. Access: original html recovered text inspected. No executable/build number, checksum or mechanics specification in this notice. Saved HTML
  • Thai Swordman guide and HP recovery table, undated — thai operator original; guide. thai_swordman_guide_2003 Archive capture: 2003-12-13. Access: original html recovered text inspected. Passive skill, not natural regeneration. Flat table conflicts with BEEhive Beta2 MaxHP-scaling account; may be stale or incomplete. Does not authenticate Thai CBT behavior. Saved HTML
  • Thai Mage guide and SP recovery table, undated — thai operator original; guide. thai_mage_guide_2003 Archive capture: 2003-12-13. Access: original html recovered text inspected. Passive skill, not natural regeneration. No explicit MaxSP term in printed table does not prove production lacked one. Undated; Thai CBT applicability unresolved. Saved HTML
  • ประกาศ ฉบับที่ 1 — thai operator original; archived original operator notice. thai_initial_announcement_july2002 Archive capture: 2002-07-24. Access: text body read. The recovered first announcement has no explicit publication date in its readable body; the operator index lists July 3, 2002. It reports the Gravity/Asiasoft signing on June 13, 2002, plans Thai Beta 2 around mid-August, and says foreign-server IDs cannot transfer to Thailand. Its broad promise of similar overseas content does not authenticate numerical Thai mechanics. Saved HTML
  • ประกาศ : ความคืบหน้าของการดำเนินงาน — thai operator original; archived original operator notice. thai_progress_20020812 Document date: 2002-08-12. Archive capture: 2003-11-18. Access: text body read. The August 12 plan schedules server installation August 19–25 and internal testing August 26–31, with opening tentatively in early September. It initially proposes two server sets and Thai Beta 2. A claim that IDs would continue when paid service began is a prelaunch commercial-transition plan, not proof of CBT-to-OBT character retention. No completed installation, testing or opening is confirmed here. Saved HTML
  • ประกาศ : การเข้าร่วมเป็นผู้ทดสอบ RO THAI CLOSE BETA — thai operator original; archived original operator notice. thai_cbt_participation_20020911 Document date: 2002-09-11. Archive capture: 2002-10-04. Access: text body read. The September 11 notice explains preassigned CBT accounts and distribution through partner ISPs or a 149-baht boxed client/manual/ID package. Downloads are scheduled from September 14 at 12:00; partner registration from September 16. It says the client program can continue into OBT. That statement is not character/ID persistence and does not override the separately announced CBT wipe. Saved HTML
  • การเพิ่มจำนวน ID ในการเข้าร่วมทดสอบ Ragnarok Thai Close Beta — thai operator original; archived original operator notice. thai_cbt_extra_ids_20020920 Document date: 2002-09-20. Archive capture: 2004-01-12. Access: text body read. The September 20 notice retrospectively states Thai CBT has operated since September 16 at 18:00. It announces additional limited client-CD/ID distribution beginning September 21. It provides no recovery formula. Saved HTML
  • Thai operator interface and weight guide, undated — thai operator original; archived original operator guide. thai_interface_guide_2003 Archive capture: 2003-12-12. Access: text body read. The interface guide says weight over 50% stops ongoing HP/SP increase; items or skills can still restore it. Over 90% prevents attacks and skill use. This corroborates the earlier leveling guide’s weight gate, but supplies no natural amount, interval, rounding, exact equality boundary, or Thai beta effective date. The general word skill does not establish which passive recovery skills bypass the gate. Saved HTML
  • Thai operator basic-play guide, undated — thai operator original; archived original operator guide. thai_basic_guide_2003 Archive capture: 2003-12-12. Access: text body read. The undated basic guide places its HP statement after two death options: return to the last saved point or wait for another player to revive you. It then says Novice HP is 50% and other classes have 1 HP, without separating the two routes or naming Resurrection skill levels. Treat this as ambiguous death/revival documentation, not a universal resurrection formula or natural recovery. The same page describes 1% Base/Job loss but leaves the EXP denominator and rounding unspecified; no Thai beta effective date is known. Saved HTML
  • Thai operator Training Ground guide, undated — thai operator original; archived original operator guide. thai_training_guide_2003 Archive capture: 2003-12-11. Access: text body read. The Training Ground guide describes enrollment granting 50 zeny, an option to skip into a random town, and three training stages. It is an undated guide, not the missing September 18, 2002 Training Ground problem notice. It gives no natural HP/SP formula or interval. Saved HTML
  • Thai operator training-course guide, undated — thai operator original; archived original operator guide. thai_training_course_guide_2003 Archive capture: 2003-12-12. Access: text body read. The training-course guide says fighting Fabre in its second-stage training area raises Base progress but not Job progress. This is a tutorial-specific description, not the EXP table for ordinary field Fabre. It provides no exact EXP reward or effective Thai patch date, and no HP/SP recovery formula. Saved HTML
  • Later mirror of early Thai operator announcements — operator material republication; attributed operator material republication. thai_mirror Access: later mirror html inspected; original provenance incomplete. Later mirror; provenance chain incomplete. Scheduled dates may not be deployment dates. Regional monster headings appear mixed; nearby no-reset and level-reduction claims need separation. Copied mirrors are not independent corroboration.
  • ประกาศ : รับสมัคร Mirror Site — thai operator original; archived original operator notice. thai_mirror_recruitment_20020913 Document date: 2002-09-13. Archive capture: 2002-09-23. Access: text body read. The September 13 notice recruits Thai-client mirror sites and schedules physical software collection from September 14 at 09:00. It does not identify a server patch or executable build. Saved HTML
  • คำชี้แจงเกี่ยวกับการใช้สิทธิเกม Ragnarok Online — thai operator original; archived original operator notice. thai_rights_clarification_20020913 Document date: 2002-09-13. Archive capture: 2002-09-23. Access: text body read. The September 13 clarification discusses posters, fansites, publications and use of the client in internet cafes during Beta. This is an administrative notice, not a gameplay patch, and is preserved as historical policy rather than current legal guidance. Saved HTML
  • Asiasoft second announcement with translated Gravity closure statements — thai operator original; archived original operator notice. thai_second_announcement_aug2002 Archive capture: 2003-05-16. Access: text body read. The original Asiasoft page contains Thai translations of Gravity statements dated August 3 and August 6, 2002. The outer article is undated; its index lists August 9. It discusses English/international-server closure: the exact shutdown time was not fixed, and the later statement clarifies that three months was a contingency rather than a fixed duration. An August opening forecast for Thailand in the quoted statement is superseded by the September launch evidence. This is service chronology, not a recovery patch. Saved HTML
